Tuesday 6 – 7 PM  “Dr. Jive’s Time Machine” (Live)

Thursday 6 – 7 PM “Dr. Jive’s Time Machine” (Live)

Dr. Jive grew up in Lexington, North Carolina and was first introduced to the “greatest music on earth” at the age of 2 years old when he discovered his grandfather’s 78 rpm records from the 1930s and 1940s and his parents’ 33 rpm albums and 45 rpm records from the 1950s. His childhood days were spent in front of an old Zenith record player, playing 78s and 45s. He got his own record player at 3 years old and the journey began as he began collecting this great music.

Dr. Jive’s favorite radio station was 106.5 WRDX FM (the first full-time beach music station) broadcasting out of Salisbury, North Carolina.

In 1999, Dr. Jive met D. K. McLaughlin (Daddy Doo Wop) who had just started the “Daddy Doo Wop” show on 90.5 FM WSNC in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Jive listened to the “Daddy Doo Wop” Show on Sunday nights for the next six years and spent many Sunday nights at the studio with Daddy Doo Wop spinning the tunes.

From 2000-2004, Dr. Jive hosted the “Mr. Retro Show” on 103.1 FM WUAG in Greensboro, North Carolina on Sunday nights from 7:00-10:00 p.m. In 2015, he returned to the airwaves with “The Dr. Jive Show” on 90.9 FM WQFS in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he can still be found on Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m.-midnight.

Dr. Jive’s show takes you back to the 1940s and 1950s and features Rhythm & Blues, Blues, Doo-Wop, Soul, Pop, and early Rock and Roll just like you used to hear on old AM radio stations late at night during those years.

Since 1981, Dr. Jive’s collection has grown substantially and the vault is full of stacks of wax. Dr. Jive was infected with the love for this old music at birth and he is still infected today. There does not seem to be a cure in sight for Dr. Jive, but he will do his best to treat your ailments as he writes musical prescriptions left and right on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Jukin’ Oldies Internet Radio.
